Mugabe 'wins' sham election in landslide
According to official results, Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe won an overwhelming victory in a presidential runoff roundly condemned by the international community as a "sham."
The longtime president received 2,150,269 votes, winning Friday's runoff by a 9 to 1 margin, according to the results from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai - who pulled out of the vote citing political violence and intimidation - received 233,000 votes, ZEC said. Another 131,481 votes were rejected. Voter turnout was recorded at 42.37 percent, ZEC said.
"We have nothing to do with the so-called Mugabe win," MDC spokesman Nelson Chamisa told CNN shortly after the results were announced. "It's a one-man race, it's a one-man circus."
